As part our celebration of Black History Month we produced a special edition of PRS Presents: an evening of music, history, education and support highlighting our Black songwriters and composers.
We were honoured to include highlights from PRS Presents Windrush Generation Trickle Down – Featuring Eddie Capone CC, Allan Wilmot and Linton Kwesi Johnson.
Eddie Capone CC is British songwriter and longstanding PRS Member, who has worked with his team at 3G Treatment, to deliver a special documentary for us, with focus around the Windrush Generation. The documentary features interviews with Eddie himself (2nd generation and war veteran), Allan Wilmot, 1st generation and WW2 Veteran, who also had taken part in the music industry, performing with his quartet ‘The Southlanders’ with some of Britain’s most popular performers’ (Jimmy Young, Cliff Richard, Vera Lynne, Shirley Bassey to name a few) and Linton Kwesi Johnson, poet, a former member of the Black Panthers and record label owner – LKJ Records. Tune in to hear from these influential people around their experience of Windrush and their musical careers.
