Blue Rose Code

Blue Rose Code is the alter-ego of Scottish singer songwriter Ross Wilson, a musician who makes contemporary folk all laced together with his love for the songs of Motown and Nashville. His debut album North Ten, released earlier this year on Reveal Records, has endeared him to music lovers and fans of label mates Joan As Policewoman and Roddy Woomble. Watch Ross perform an exclusive version of Whitechapel, the lead track from his latest EP.

‘Caledonian soul’ is how Ross Wilson describes his contemporary blend of traditional folk with his love of soul and Motown.

It’s a great way to capture the essence of his music, which has snowballed in popularity throughout 2013 since the release of debut album, North Ten.

The record, which featured legendary bassist and long time fan Danny Thompson, was released early 2013 on Reveal Records. The imprint is home to Lau, Joan As Policewoman and Roddy Woomble, all artists whose music are effective sign posts to the contemporary styles of Blue Rose Code.

Single Julie was championed by Radio 2's Jo Whiley and XFM while performances at Cambridge Folk Festival and the main stage at Moseley Folk have all done much to spread the word of Ross and his music.
