Following the release of his much-lauded debut record Bone Coloured in 2018, Glasgow’s Michael Timmons is preparing to put out the emotionally stark, yet glistening single, The Games Room.
After Bone Coloured received praise from industry figures like Steve Lamaq and Tom Robinson, and media outlets BBC Radio Scotland, The Scotsman, and the Skinny, Michael secured an invite to support the Twilight Sad at their sold-out show at Glasgow Barrowlands.
Having been compared to acts like Elliott Smith of the back of the album, the singer-songwriter subsequently appeared at Celtic Connections and the Scottish Alternative Awards, where he supported Kathryn Joseph.
Timmons now returns with possibly his most personal song yet.
The Games Room was written as an ode to his father, who passed away last year, and the song’s exploration of grief is leavened by his bright guitar work and crystalline vocal.
The single was produced by Frightened Rabbit’s Andy Monaghan and will be released on 5 April via Gargleblast records, and the rest of the year looks equally busy for Michael with a headline show at King Tuts and his forthcoming second record in progress.
Michael comments: 'This song is about my experience of grief, and written about the passing of my father just over a year ago. I find writing and sharing through my music helps me process these things.'
