Birmingham alternative promoters This is Tmrw have been responsible for bringing some of the most exciting alternative, electronic, dance and lo-fi bands to the second city since 2006.
Cooked up by Matthew Beck and Tom Hopkins with the simple idea of curating carefully thought-out lineups featuring their favourite bands and DJ's, over the past 11 years they've played host to the likes of Mac Demarco, Ought, King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, The Parrots, Matthew Dear, DIIV, Thurston Moore, Simian Mobile Disco, Hookworms, Ghostpoet, Gruff Rhys, East India Youth, Hinds and much, much more.
With an emphasis on quality programming, anything goes: from sweaty basement punk gigs to big club shows where they've DJ'd with the likes of Jackmaster, Jamie XX, Ryan Hemsworth, Theo Parrish, Greg Wilson, Ben UFO, Erol Alkan and Soul Clap.
With the fifth edition of their festival, All Years Leaving returning this Autumn, Matthew curates a playlist for us featuring tracks from its most eclectic lineup yet.
Spring King - They're Coming After You
A slower one from the normally energetic 4 piece.
The Orielles – I Only Bought it for the Bottle
3 mins of bubblegum lo-fi indie goodness from Halifax.
Her’s – What Once Was
Her’s sound like so many of our favourite bands…Think C86, Postcard Records, yacht rock, doo wop etc!
Terror Watts – Tough Guy
The BEST garage rock outta Birmingham via PNKSLM records (Bham/ Stockholm)… Totally infectious tune for fans of Wavves, Ty Segall, Black Lips...
Savoy Motel – Sorry People
Another band we’re looking forward to watching live… Art rock sounds with a strong influence from the band's Nashville roots…Modern southern boogie!
Idles – Mother
Scare a Tory.
Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam – Sink or Swim
One of Brum’s finest.
Traams – A House on Fire
An 8 minute strong post punk epic. Enjoy.
Downtown Boys – Somos Chulas (No Somos Pendejus)
Genuinely cannot wait to see them live…Super fun no wave inspired punk party tunes!
Priests – JJ
Stand out track from one of our albums of the year, Nothing Feels Natural.
All Years Leaving features all the above bands and is hosted at The Hare and Hounds on 21 and 22 October. Tickets are available here.
