Welcome to this week’s playlist, curated by Manchester venue and institution the Night and Day Café.
Ahead of Independent Venue Week 2016, we asked them to curate some of their current favourites tracks.
Starting on Monday 25 January, the week-long event will champion and celebrate the importance of the small venue in supporting musical talent at grass roots level. The Night and Day will welcome a wide range of talent over the week including local heroes Horsebeach (pictured in image), new talent Izzy Bizu and Manchester legend Tim Burgess.
Visit the Night and Day's website to find out more and check out an ace selection below from the venue’s promoter Gareth Butterworth including Real Lies, NZCA/Lines and Haelos.
You can also attend our M magazine showcase at the Sebright Arms on Thursday 28 January. Find all the deets.
Real Lies - Blackmarket Blues
My favourite new band. Their LP soundtracks the average twenty-something geezer.
The Charlatans - One To Another
I can't wait to have Tim Burgess DJ at Night & Day for IVW whilst he showcase his latest live talent on his label - Hot Vestry, Slowgun and Night Palms.
Radiohead - Everything In It's Right Place
It’s great to see them back on the circuit this year. One of THE best live bands.
Stormzy - Shut Up
'Most the real bad boys live in south.'
NZCA/Lines - Two Hearts
This is the best song on the radio right now.
Jamie xx - I Know There's Gonna Be Good Times (Skepta Remix)
Two of 2015's biggest artists coming together.
Girl Band - Paul
Great live. Great album.
LCD Soundsystem - I Can Change
See Radiohead comment
Haelos - Pray
It’s really exciting to see what 2016 hold for these. They hit Night & Day in March.
Tame Impala - The Less I Know The Better
Three great records. Hopefully soundtracking lots of summer festivals.
Horsebeach - It's Alright
One of Manchester's hottest bands play live at Night & Day for IVW.
Jagwar Ma - Uncertainty
Wishful thinking for some new music this year.
The Streets - Weak Become Heroes
Tune.
