The 2013 Mercury Prize ceremony is almost upon us and we’ve been studying the bookies’ odds to decipher who will be victorious this time. But, as ever, the winning horse is just too tricky to call.
The shortlist certainly sums up the breadth of this year’s amazing pop output, from the chart-smashing anthemic sets of Rudimental and Disclosure to the swagger of Arctic Monkeys' lauded return and the understated drama of Jon Hopkins’ sophomore album Immunity.
Here at M Towers we’ve given up speculating who will scoop the prize and opted instead for a sweepstake that won't prove too lucrative for the winner but has definitely piqued all our interest!
Come 30 October we’ll be closely watching the race, but in the meantime we’ve put together a bumper playlist that celebrates all 12 of this year’s nominees plus each of winning album’s since Primal Scream’s Screamadelica took home the inaugural gong back in 1992.
So plug in and help us celebrate the best of British (and Irish)!
