Welcome to our latest playlist, put together by ace DJ and man about town Jonjo Jury.
Jonjo has been one of London’s most switched on selectors, playing a energetic, sweaty selection of electronic, indie and disco at some of the city’s brashest parties. Trash, Durr, Hot Boy Dancing Spot and now the wonderful Savage have all been his musical playgrounds while he’s now putting playlists together for the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, Boutique 1 and now us.
We’re honoured - have a look at Jonjo’s top selection here and listen below…
The B- 52's - Dance This Mess Around
Have really fond memories of my mum and her best mate dancing round singing to this when I was a child. I'm a huge B-52's fan, the energy, colour and clever/silly vocals.
The Stooges - I Wanna Be Your Dog
I was taken to see the Stooges when I was 13 and seeing Iggy Pop was an awakening for teenage me. I remember so vividly hearing this track for the first time.
Chemical Brothers - Leave Home
Like The Stooges this had a full on ‘I need this’ effect on me the first time I danced to this. I went and asked the DJ…
Smashing Pumpkins - Today
Everyone has their school’s out long hot summer track and this was mine. Still listen to the album Siamese Dream all the time. Classic.
Japan - Life In Tokyo (12" Extended Version)
Still sounds so modern and positive. The production and the driving kick drum still hold up so well on a dancefloor.
Fern Kinney - Groove Me LP version
This track just makes you want to shake your shoulders. The break down five minutes in gets me every time. Heaven.
Rose Royce - R.R. Express (Edit)
Love most Rose Royce but this song is so ahead of its time. Outrageously funky.
Sylvester - I Need Somebody To Love Tonight
Do You Wanna Funk? and Over & Over by Sylvester are always in my DJ bag as is this track for starting a warm up set or end of night lights up.
Talking Heads - Slippery People
Perfect churchy happy clappy summer track.
New Order - Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep Pettibone 12" Remix)
Shep Pettibone is a genius, I love so many of his earlier Salsoul disco productions but this era working his magic on Depeche Mode and Madonna is also just brilliant.
Adult - Hand To Phone
I played this record to death when I used to be resident at Trash/ Durrr. It’s still so fresh.
Junior Boys - Work
A modern classic.
Romare - Who Loves You?
This works the dance floor so well down at Savage at the moment. Great production and that throbbing disco bass.
Tensnake - Freundchen
Another track thats really worked the dance floor over this summer. Really good times.
Abba - The Day Before You Came
I think the Abba LP The Visitors is a work of art, when it all went wrong, bitter and dark. Perfect to end the record.
