Welcome to this week’s playlist. This week we’ve asked jazz guitarist Anton Hunter to compile a selection of tracks which have inspired his latest piece, Article XI.
The work was commissioned for this year’s 2014 Irwin Mitchell mjf originals at the Manchester Jazz Festival. By the time you read this, Anton and his 11-piece band will have already wowed audiences in Manchester but another performance beckons at London’s Vortex this Sunday (27 July).
Article XI’s name is taken from the European Convention on the right to free assembly. It’s this sort of free thinking and improvising which informs his work and his song selection. Check out a list of songs from the likes of Spiritualized, Yo La Tengo and Graham Collier…
