Enter Andy Burrows; drummer with Razorlight, then We Are Scientists, and later co-writer with Tom Smith from the Editors for side project Smith & Burrows. Last month saw the release of his solo album Company – a gently psychedelic pop gem that shows genuine songwriting talent.
On Company he plays drums, bass, guitar and piano to craft classic songs influenced by the greats of the 60s and 70s; notably Elton John, Neil Young and John Lennon. The record marks a significant step forward for Burrows, who told M last week that he feels he is still learning how to write songs.
Watch him perform an exclusive version of his new track Hometown at London’s Borderline venue. Later this week we will be sharing the second song he played for us and our interview with him.
