Hannah Peel is surely as resourceful as she is eccentric: over the last four years she's successfully built a career challenging the singer-songwriter status quo, inventing new musical instruments and collaborating with artists far outside her comfort zone.
The Northern-Irish born, Yorkshire raised multi-instrumentalist first grabbed the limelight in 2010 with Re-Box - an EP of covers that cleverly reimagined songs by Cocteau Twins and New Order on a music box she'd crafted herself.
Since then, she's collaborated with electronic trailblazers John Foxx and The Maths and formed The Magnetic North, an experimental music trio with Simon Tong (The Verve, Gorillaz, The Good, The Bad & The Queen) and Erland Cooper (Erland & The Carnival).
The Magnetic North project made a massive impact on her sound, and the experience of scoring brass and string arrangements for their Orkney album - coupled with her own orchestral work at Sadlers Wells - have pulled her sounds into exciting new shapes.
Armed with funding from PRS for Music Foundation’s Momentum Fund, she is now working hard to record, promote and tour her latest musical projects.
