Until recently, songwriter Ed Drewett was working quietly behind the scenes, delivering hit singles for the likes of One Direction, Olly Murs and The Wanted.
His amazing track record dates back to 2010 when he featured on Professor Green’s debut single I Need You Tonight, which reached number three in the UK singles chart.
Since then, he’s rustled up smashes for The Wanted – including All Time Low and Glad You Came – but it was One Direction's mega-hit Best Song Ever that sealed his fate as one of the most sought-after songwriters of last year.
Now, following an extensive stint away from the limelight, Ed is keen to come out of the shadows and sing his own tunes.
He entered Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year performing his own composition, Blink, which earned him an all important ‘yes’ from the judges. But, having failed to make the final three, he’s now concentrating on penning more of his own material.
We caught up with him on the red carpet of The Ivors to find out his songwriting secrets and pick up some tips on creating that all-important pop hook…
