Tenor saxophonist Binker Golding and drummer Moses Boyd are among the freshest new forces to emerge in British jazz.
The pair enjoyed a massive 2015 with their debut LP Dem Ones, which channelled the spirit of John Coltrane and helped the pair win a MOBO for Best Jazz Act.
Testament to their growing standing and continued success in 2016, they were the big winners at the Jazz FM Awards in London earlier this week, scooping the prizes for Breakthrough Act of the Year and UK Jazz Act of the Year.
Originally meeting through double bassist/educator Gary Crosby’s Tomorrow’s Warriors jazz programme, Binker and Moses cut their teeth touring extensively in Zara McFarlane’s band.
They hit it off immediately, improvising and jamming between gigs and soundchecks and chose to enter the studio to commit their experiments to tape.
Now working on album number two, and with some top secret collaborations in the bag, it seems that the sky’s the limits for Binker and Moses.
