Later this month, Ben embarks on a year-long celebration of the centenary of electronic music with an opening event at Village Underground in London’s east end.
The night boasts a rare chance to see the Eccentronic Research Council (ERC) live, featuring TV and film star Maxine Peake. They will be joined on 17 May, by Fil OK, Justin Robertson, Jim Stanton and Scottee.
The Noise of Art collective intend to host a string of events until the Spring of 2014, all of them relating to Italian futurist Luigi Russolo’s Manifesto for An Art of Noises, which was first published in 1913 and outlines a precursor to the synthesiser.
Here, Ben offers a taste of the flavours that will be on offer at his upcoming events…
!!! Get That Rhythm Right
The on point opener from their new album. The rest of the tracks are all great too.
Rudimental Hell Could Freeze Over (Skream remix)
Having turned out the best version of 'Need U', Skream follows up with this cool re-take. Genius boy.
Qtier Still
Signed to Russel and David Autokfratz's Bad Life imprint, with tracks coming out on Bpitch. Next generation Portishead.
Ty Knock Knock
The excellent Tru Thoughts label have picked up UK hip hop maestro Ty and this is the pick of his debut EP with them.
Symbol One Pink Elephant
This one always gets people asking what it is whenever I play it.
Basement Jaxx Back 2 the Wild (Gorgon Jaxx dub)
Great to have Simon and Felix back and the Gorgon Jaxx Dub remix is sublime.
Danny Alias Civil Defense (G.A.R! rework)
Out a few weeks back on Kill the DJ in Paris. Always goes down well.
Rektchordz Live Your Life (Meant remix)
Great little funky b-line house track.
Eccentronic Research Council Another Witch is Dead
Maxine, Adrian and Dean in full mysterious flow.
