Music Download Licence (MDL)
Who needs this licence?
Large digital services in the UK that offer music content for permanent download. We categorise services as large if their annual gross revenue is more than £200,000.
Any services with annual revenues of less than £200,000 can be licensed through the LOML and LOML+ licensing schemes.
What this licence covers
MDL is a blanket licence that covers the communication to the public and associated mechanical rights of our members' repertoire.
How we calculate the licence fee
The fee is calcuated as the greater of:
- eight percent of gross revenue OR
- minimum fee per download (please see table below)
