You need our licence for Online Live Concerts with revenues more than £1,500 and tailored for classical events
We have created specific rates for the classical sector to reflect the different rights and clearances needed for an online live classical concert. We know many classical concerts have pre-cleared rights or non-copyright material included so our scheme accommodates these variances. However, if your concert includes ballet and grand rights these aren’t included and will need to be cleared separately as usual. The discounted rates ensure that members, who have seen an 80% decline in live 2020 royalties, are fairly paid when their music is performed, while also supporting the live music sector as it experiments with online concerts.
If the revenues from your classical online live concert are more than £1,500 you have two options:
Option 1 – Apply using our standard discounted rates.
These rates are quick and simple and are applied to the total revenue for your concert +VAT. The rate applied depends on whether you already have a rental agreement for the sheet music which includes a synchronisation licence and if your event is broadcast live or pre-recorded. The table below sets out rates which would apply as a percentage of revenue.
Standard Rate (No Repertoire Density Adjustment*)
Type |
Streamed/Webcast |
Percentage of revenue |
---|---|---|
Non-rented sheet music | Both |
10% |
Rented sheet music | Pre-recorded | 7.5% |
Rented sheet music | Live |
8.75% |
Option 2 – Apply using our variable discounted rates.
These rates are applied to the total revenue of your concert +VAT but they also take into account the amount of copyright music used. For us to create this bespoke licence we require you to apply 21 days in advance and supply all setlists with duration's on application.
Variable Rate (Repertoire Density Adjustment*)
Type |
Streamed/Webcast |
Percentage of revenue |
---|---|---|
Non-rented sheet music | Both |
15% |
Rented sheet music | Pre-recorded | 11.25% |
Rented sheet music | Live |
13.125% |
