Are you using the rapid ISWC allocation service?
In 2020, CISAC unveiled a significant upgrade to the global ISWC system. This two-year project marked the first enhancement of the system in 15 years and aims to enhance precision, speed and efficiency in tracking creators’ works and distributing royalties. Many of our publishers have already successfully migrated to the new ISWC system, which is supported by various industry players.
The system aims to centralise code assignment to eliminate duplication and inaccuracies, dramatically reduce the time required to assign ISWCs and streamline the digital licensing process. Publishers that are signed up to the IAS are able to submit composer and title details for newly acquired songs and within 24 hours the newly assigned ISWC (for newly created songs), or the existing ISWC (for newly acquired existing songs) will be returned.
Songs do not have to be registered first before obtaining an ISWC, which aims to improve digital services pre-registration or pre-release match rates.
If you would like to start using the IAS or require any further information, please contact Dominika Uhrakova (dominika.uhrakova@prsformusic.com) Copyright Publisher Relationship Manager.
