Biography
Steve has worked at the heart of music publishing for over 35 years.
A music graduate from Liverpool University, Steve joined Chappell and EMI’s printed music publisher as an editor in 1987 and, during his 10 years tenure, rose to the Senior Leadership Team having had hundreds of his music arrangements published along the way.
At Warner Chappell Music, Steve’s responsibilities over two decades extended to all copyright, royalties and data management across Europe before being appointed EVP, Head of Global Operations. During this time, he led the publisher’s efforts to centralise its operations and onshore its IT to a global centre located in Asia.
In parallel, Steve conceived the vision to replace the organisation’s decentralised core systems, scripting the business plan and then managing the build and rollout of the Company’s new global contracts, copyright and royalty system, powering a dramatic increase in royalty revenue through enhanced income tracking and analytics. The project included the build and roll out of the Company’s first ever multi-language client Portal and App.
Steve joined Round Hill Music in 2020 just ahead of the Company’s IPO of the Royalty Hill Music Royalty Fund on the London Stock Exchange. He was deeply involved in the flotation of the Fund and, since his appointment as Global COO, Round Hill Music has undergone positive organisational change and consolidation under Steve’s oversight.
Reflecting his passion, experience and expertise, Steve has served on high-profile music industry committees including the international boards of ICMP and IMPA. He is currently on the Board of the MPA; a Board Advisor at Audoo; and is Chair of ICMP’s Global Collective Management and Societies Expert Group. In 2019, he was awarded the MPA’s ‘Tony Pool Award’ for his outstanding contribution to administration and operations within the music industry.

Manifesto
As the music industry and the reach of its songs becomes increasingly international, it is more vital than ever that organisations like PRS are equipped to take their seat on the global stage.
I have spent two decades working internationally, having regularly visited collection societies across twenty countries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
This work has spanned not only continents, but also a breadth of operational responsibilities including copyright, registration, royalties, digital administration, licensing and IT, with a particular focus on metadata and data exchange within the industry.
PRS and its sister society network are fundamental to the flow of income through the music ecosystem. With my experience of working internationally, I understand the different nuances collection societies employ overseas and how they compare and contrast to the performance and deliverables of the PRS.
Should I be successful in being appointed to the PRS Members’ Council, I will bring my deep and strategic international CMO knowledge to PRS, as well as my operational expertise. I believe my skill set is unique and highly complementary to those of many other Council Members, whose expertise already spans the crucial areas of finance, licensing and business affairs.
I strongly believe that Council Members should be proactively involved and not passive; I have aimed to demonstrate that quality throughout my career. I will actively participate in strategic discussion to raise the bar of PRS’s operational delivery for its publisher and writer members, and through service companies like ICE.
I am passionate about making sure publishers and writers receive accurate and timely payments when their music is used. Therefore, to have the ability to help PRS to be the best in its field and a beacon of excellence amongst its peers, internationally, is a role I would relish.
