Manifesto

Dear fellow PRS writer, I am here to ask for your vote in the upcoming PRS election. If you look at my profile you'll see that I have worked in all genres of music for 50 years - pop, rock, grime, rap, classical, new age, jazz, ballet, celtic, folk, disco, edm, operatic, prog, soul, West End musicals, recording, producing and touring as an artist and as a session player, you name it. I really love working with people and helping in any away I can. I have seen a lifetime of ups and downs in the music industry, and  this is why I wish to work with the PRS at board level to:

  • expand the PRS’ global reach and further increase our royalties by negotiating with non-contributing countries.
  • find out why some countries in the ICE agreement are still not paying royalties and address this.
  • add weight with my professional experience to fight the AI (Artificial Intelligence) and streaming platforms problems.
  • help make members feel more inclusive/involved and listen to their needs. There is still not nearly enough transparency in the industry. To this end you would also be able get in touch with me directly via the Facebook Scorecast group which is also an endless source of advice where we answer any questions you may have or point you in the right direction.
  • negotiate with ASCAP re the non-paying of royalties in the USA on music under 60 seconds long on radio and film music in theatres. I will be an active force making the PRS stronger and wider reaching, to ensure the correct royalties for all our members and also do away with wrong accounting. With the TV show Timmy Time I receive royalties from 38 out of 150 countries in which it is aired meaning I am being paid about 25%.

Let me find that missing 75% of our royalties, our earnings, our money. All my best, Mike Stobbie
