About the Artists
SIPHO.
Whenever he wasn’t taking part in talent contests or after-school a cappella groups, SIPHO. would be recording music on borrowed microphones. Even now, with his range of influences spanning from RnB to gospel via electronic music, the rising artist’s creative focus never wavers, ensuring that his creations always speak to a wide audience.
Growing up in Birmingham as part of the Seventh-day Adventist church, SIPHO. became serious about music from a young age. The 21-year-old's faith and relationship with God have continued to play an important part in his music since signing with Dirty Hit (The 1975, Wolf Alice), often musing upon ideas of religious morality and scepticism in his affecting lyrics.
Awarded the PPL Momentum Fund and International Showcase Fund from PRS Foundation, SIPHO.’s work has gone from strength to strength, with a distinct focus on exploring the importance of texture. His songs weave elements from unexpected places – a TV sound effect here, a snippet of a song serendipitously heard on a shop floor there – to create rich layers of sound that captivate his listeners, particularly in a live setting.
AMEENAH
Born and raised in Birmingham, AMEENAH was introduced to a rich array of genres by her music-loving family from an early age. This diverse mix of influences has since shaped her signature style and experimental flare, setting her apart from her contemporaries.
A talented vocalist, AMEENAH’s music – which traverses RnB, House, Garage and UK Funky – has seen her earn support across national and local radio stations, including Reprezent Radio, BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra.
Her straight-talking nature and seamless command of the stage has earned her a host of festival bookings this year, most recently the Birmingham Festival 23 with BBC Asian Network. AMEENAH’s ability to uplift any crowd ensures that her live performances never disappoint.
