About the Artists

Nova Twins

Nova Twins

Nova Twins are a trailblazing force who have recently received their first Mercury Prize nomination for their 2nd album Supernova, which features powerful tracks with influences of punk, rap, pop, hard rock and beyond, with a nod to their exposure to 00s R&B and hip-hop during their childhood.

Formed in London in 2014, the two childhood friends came together to create something that destroyed boundaries and defied expectations. Following release of their debut album ‘Who Are The Girls?’ in 2020, they went on to support an array of acts on tours e.g. Bring Me The Horizon, Wolf Alice, Enter Shikari and Sleaford Mods, due to their eclectic sound.

The last few years have been very special for Nova Twins, from opening discussion with the MOBO Awards to create a category for alternative music to teaming up with No Music On A Dead Planet and Oxfam to play for environmental change, working with Dr. Martens to raise money for The Black Curriculum or aiming to inspire a new wave of young, diverse talent; cementing themselves as not only emerging talent but changemakers too. They’ve also won two Heavy Music Awards: Best Breakthrough in 2020 and Best Music Video for ‘Taxi’ in 2021.

2022 started strong after receiving International Showcase Funding from PRS Foundation to perform at Eurosonic Nooderslag and SXSW’s prestigious return at The British Music Embassy. Nova Twins were also Participants for the first year of the POWER UP programme and have been grantees of the PPL Momentum Fund. An exciting evening ahead, the night before the Mercury Prize ceremony.

Los Bitchos

Los Bitchos

Los Bitchos are an effervescent and infectious instrumental Cumbia band; formed in 2017 in London but drawn from across the globe: Serra Petale (Australia), Agustina Ruiz (Uruguay), Josefine Jonsson (Sweden) and Nic Crawshaw (UK) came together after discovering a mutual love of Afro-Latin dancing music laced with rock guitar).

Known predominantly for their exciting live shows, they have since gone on to release their debut album ‘Let The Festivities Begin!’ produced by Franz Ferdinand’s Alex Kapranos, resembling the soundtrack of a Quentin Tarantino Film or a 70s gap year. Describing their live show like a house party, in 2022 Los Bitchos, with the help of PRS Foundation’s International Showcase Funding performed multiple shows at SXSW, including The British Music Embassy, gaining an array of fans from across the world.

Ditz

Ditz

Ditz have been taking on the hardcore scene in Brighton since 2016. DITZ create forward-thinking noise rock/post-punk which features vast arrays of pedal effects within influences from 80s and 90s post-hardcore and noise rock. DITZ released their debut EP ‘5 Songs’ for Alcopop! Records in 2020 featuring their singles ‘Total 90’, ‘Role Model’ and their cover of Peaches’ ‘Fuck The Pain Away’. This received plaudits from some of the UK’s premier new punk bands, IDLES and Slaves, as well as media fuss from DIY, Loud & Quiet, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit and more.

Glastonbury Festival Emerging Talent Competition and Green Man Rising long listers, DITZ have shared stages with JOHN, Drahla, BDRMM, Crows, Spectres, British Sea Power and The Coathangers, whilst performing at festivals across the UK/EU inc. Best Kept Secret, Left Of The Dial, Festival Transfer and Mucho Flow. In 2022, they released their debut album ‘The Great Regression’ a rage-forward bulldozer of poetic wordplay along with Joe Talbot proclaiming Ditz ‘as the best band in Brighton, if not the world’. PRS Foundation awarded the Post Post-Punk (as described by Steve Lamacq) band The Open Fund for Music Creators, helping them go into the studio with renown producer Ben Hampson (Nadine Shah’s Mercury Nominated LP ‘Holiday Destination’, Blood Red Shows, Tigercub) to record their debut album.
