Soul ace Jalen N’Gonda has travelled far from his Maryland home to Liverpool, bringing honeyed vocals and winsome blues with him.
The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) alumni radiates smooth, feel good vibes, channelling the spirit of Motown and old school R&B with a progressive slant.
With just a handful of tracks out in the world, including latest single Holler, it’s already clear Jalen’s songwriting perfectionism and musical nous is for real.
We were lucky enough to catch him play at the recent PRS for Music Sleeve Notes event, which was held at Westminster, London, to bring politicians together with songwriters to discuss their work.
