PRS for Music announces major new signing

The organisation that represents more than 100,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers has confirmed the signing of prolific songwriter, Björn Ulvaeus. The organisation will manage the songwriter’s rights for the world, with effect from January 2015.

Björn has enjoyed a stellar career, most notably as co-founder of Swedish super group ABBA in which he co-wrote every song in their impressive eight-album run. ‘ABBA Gold’, the collection of the band’s hits is the second highest selling album of all time in the UK and has topped the album charts five times since its 1992 release. 

Björn’s 50 year career, however, stretches far beyond his role in one of the most successful pop groups. From his earliest musical beginnings as a member of popular Swedish folk band The Hootenanny Singers, through his solo hits of the 1960s to his theatrical collaborations with Benny Andersson on the hugely successful musicals Chess, Kristina från Duvemåla and Mamma Mia, Björn has demonstrated his undeniable status as one of the greatest modern songwriters.
